Researched and delivered by the Aboriginal led CultuRecode™ Project

Preface

The CultuRecode team included both Indigenous and Australian Psychologists, Social workers, Educators, Elders and Cultural Experts. These discoveries will prove that there are two Polar Opposite Instinctive Mindset Cultures in Australia at the moment. These Belief Systems have created the invisible barriers to Indigenous and Australian peoples collaborating with respect, honour and trust. You will learn today what training steps are now available for you to become Culture Intuitive rock stars.  We are excited to be able to present for the first time, what these invisible barriers look like in everyday  situations like meetings, project design, family events, mentoring, learning and communication

This program is not just another Cross-Cultural Awareness program.  It is for all cultures to come together in partnership.  The CultuRecode Project would not exist without the generous and critical input from both Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander and Non-Indigenous team members.

Our team have created a raft of real-life everyday scenarios to ascertain what the communication and engagement difference are between Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander and Non-Indigenous team people today.

Incorporating and respecting Aboriginal instinctive ways (Collective Mindset) of working and learning in your everyday practice, is where the most amazing change occurs.

Social Enterprise commitment

Ten percent of all monies paid to the CultuRecode Project team to deliver the Cultural Instinctiveness training is directed to deliver education and learning language resources to Indigenous families who have missed out on up to seven generations of Localised land, water, animal and plant management survival skills and knowledge that emerged due to the daily beliefs followed by their ancient Ancestors. All contributors and supporters will share in our Aboriginal community successes.

Pre-Requisite Workshop 1 (For everyone)

1A & 1 B .Introduction to Instinctive Communication (2 x 2 hours) (Why)

The CultuRecode Project found systemically there is a lack of awareness across most Australian settings regarding another important and relevant way of engagement.  A tried and tested collaborative approach thousands of years old, Communicating Collectively.

Discover if you are Individualistic First Mindset or Collective First Mindset!

The CIP program provides the guidance for anyone to identify why people of another Mindset (Instinctive Belief System) do the same thing differently. It confirms the importance of this information, by showing how IBS difference affects the daily collaborations occurring in diverse places every day and where this difference comes from.

Why this is important to us

Our Culture Intuitive Toolkit will create a positive change by improving trust and respect when people from all cultural groups work collaboratively. These tools will support organisations to overcome the invisible differences that causes negative behaviours, perspectives and judgments.  The CultuRecode team have consistently witnessed situations where Instinctive miscommunication has led to frustration and angst and often staff turnover, relationship breakdown and job losses.

We have found it is critical when creating genuine partnerships, that people representing both Belief Systems learn, understand and accept the following;

Where these differences occur

Where they stem from (Ancient Instinctive Culture Model of both mindsets) and

What they look like today (so we can find ways to work respectfully with IBS’s that are not our own.)

Our solutions/tools

The Culture Intuitive Toolkit (CIC) gives individuals the means, insight and knowledge to overcome collaborative differences at all levels. We have developed a Belief System Barometer (BSB) that profiles if you are Individualistic First or Collective First Mindset.  At all times we engage in a way that allows for all Instinctive Belief Systems to feel respected and acknowledged.

2.Culture Instinctive Mapping Tool (2 hours) – Individualistic First (Awareness)

Individual First Mindset members think Individual first and then their relationship and responsibilities to their group. (Am I happy, so I can make my family happy?) (Am I being looked after, so I can feel confident to have fulfilled my responsibility to my In-group?)

What do we mean by Individualistic? – it is not just about the single individual but also can include the nuclear family (husband, wife, kids, Grandparents) and there is a genuine commitment to achieving for the improvement of conditions and success for your family. The key motivation of the individual is that if they achieve as an individual (in their job, winning awards or sport, earning lots of money and a high education) then that means their family are better off, as is their nation and community.

Why this is important to us

To ensure all mindset people are included and respected in the training

To ensure all mindset people learn where their unconscious thoughts stem from

To empower all mindset people to understand “Why all people today are their Ancestors”

Our solutions/tools

Culture Instinctive Collaborator training that can support individuals to know where their Unconscious thought (Instincts), bias to their perspective, standards and Beliefs come from.  How to acknowledge and believe there is also another set of Instinctive ways that are equally powerful and the tools to overcome this difference and meet the needs of the other mindset.

3.Culture Instinctive Mapping Tool (2 hours) Collective First (Awareness)

Collective First Mindset members think group first and then their relationship and responsibilities to themselves. (Are my group happy, so I can be happy?) (Am I looking after my groups’ wellbeing, so I can feel confident to have fulfilled my responsibility to my In-group?)

What do we mean by Collective or Group? – it is not just the nuclear family.  When the Oral motivated people speak of the group, they mean Nuclear family plus extended family of not just theirs but also in-laws and friends families,  local community and even entire cultural group.

4A & 4B. Culture Instinctive Communication in play (2 x 2 hours) (Naming)

Process needs – Misunderstandings of how people from another culture need to receive information to understand it, is inconsistent and often comes across as condescending.

Why this is important to us

5. Culture Instinctive Relationship building (2 hours) (Trust)

Trust – Gain the skills and tools that enable you to present information in the engagement approach needed.

Real life scenarios that enable you to identify, experience, compare and name the instincts of another Mindset Culture

Why this is important to us

There is a very clear, practical benefit to investing in affective relationship-building, especially in emerging markets. Very often the relationship is, in itself, the business contract, so it is important to join the crowd and show your true self to feel a personal bond. In these cultures, trust is like an insurance policy: – it’s an investment you need to make up front, before the need arises.

Our solutions/tools

Learn how to ensure the key ingredient in Ancient times and still true today that is critical to a person thriving within a team, whether you hold a group mindset or an individual – Trust is embedded in your collaborations

Learn how to build trust the right way across different Mindsets to collaborate respectfully and build genuine relationships

6A, 6B & 6C Culture Instinctive Communication Tool for Indigenous people only – Using your Cultural Inheritance (3 x 2 hours)

The majority of workplaces in Australia are dominated by Anglo Saxon Australian ways of working. Many have not yet included or even know about Aboriginal ways of working. We give Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander participants the collaborative tools to work effectively across Belief Systems, without diminishing their Cultural integrity.

There needs to be a greater understanding of what drives people’s decision-making, and how to consider and recognise the different perspectives and processes of people outside of a person’s Belief System group

Due to colonisation many Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander people are not aware of their own instinctive Belief Systems and the effect it has on their daily interactions in an Anglo Saxon dominated world. Our program “Why I am my ancestors?’ is an innovative course that strengthens Indigenous identity through knowledge and pride in their inherited Instinctive Belief System handed down & gifted by their Ancestors over thousands of years.  We also believe it is critical to create awareness of how to respect and work within Non-Indigenous Belief Systems when collaborating.

Why this is important to us

The CultuRecode Research has found to improve wellbeing, it is critical that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people understand not only their own inherited Instinctive Belief System, but also the Belief System of Anglo Saxon Australians as well.

To know how to be successful in anything whether it is on the sporting field or in the workplace, it is critical that each side knows the rules and ways of the other team to create strategies to adjust to their different talents and moves.

Our solutions/tools

Culture Intuitive training can identify and build upon Indigenous Peoples’ strengths both individually and collectively.  This learning will promote sharing of knowledge, and practice wisdom as essential to how Indigenous peoples develop and maintain mutually positive and respectful relationships with themselves and those outside of their Instinctive Belief System.

8A,8B Engaging with Collective Parents Tool Kit (2 x 2 hours)

One of many Instinctive cultural differences between Individualistic Mindset people and Indigenous Australians Instinctive Cultural Beliefs is the concept of independence versus interdependence.

We take you on a Family Outing with both Aboriginal and Non-Aboriginal Australian families to enable you to be a front row audience to the different parenting practices and goals across Mindsets

There needs to be a greater understanding of what drives people’s decision-making, and how to consider and recognise the different perspectives and processes of people outside of a person’s Belief System group

Why this is important to us

It has always been taught to Aboriginal people that family structures are critical in developing a sense of identity for all children.  Collective family structures are primarily embracing and inclusive in nature.  Relationships within Collective First Indigenous families are understood as a way of including people in the parenting of a child or growing them up rather than specifying particular distinct and distanced roles.

To know each mindset’s parenting standards, perspectives, goals is critical to engagement, program design and delivery.

Our solutions/tools

Culture Intuitive training will map where these parenting instincts stem from and how to develop strength based learning and engagement strategies that are far more effective then you thought possible.

11.Culture Instinctive Mentoring for success Tool for supervisors (2 hours + 3 hours pre-requisite course)

It’s all about relationships – the differences between Western and Aboriginal mentoring, with the West’s ideology of mentoring focusing on the success of the individual and Aboriginal people’s focus on the relational and collective. These differing perspectives play out in mentoring practices and priorities around Australia.

Hands on – Indigenous people learn by apprenticeship, discipleship, by listening, observing, by repeating what is heard, by mastering colloquial sayings, by using their imagination and developing evocative language to tell their stories.

Understanding a mentee’s Instinctive belief system is one of the most important skills that you could ever share in. Because by understanding the beliefs that shape yours and their behaviour, you will be able to learn how to create new patterns that lead to lasting fulfillment and cross-cultural collaboration.   In addition, knowing why people of another culture do the same thing differently, will reduce daily frustrations and create real, lasting empowerment in your life.  It will increase confidence and form trusting relationships.
